A BRIEF HISTORY
1. CALLED TO LOS ANGELES
On September 2, 1982, God called my family—including my wife, Sue, and our three kids—to come to Los Angeles for “a great harvest.” I heard the words, “The time of revival is at hand.”
2. A WORD FROM ED SILVOSO
In the fall of 2017, Ed Silvoso flew from San Jose to personally give me a prophetic word from the Lord. “You are going to see the fulfillment of the promise God gave you of a great harvest,” he said, “but you need to turn your heart back to California. God is going to give you apostolic strategy to transform California.” Ed was right; at that time, my heart was focused on the nations and not on California. But as Sue and I prayed over this word, God started to change my heart and shifted my focus onto California.
3. LAUNCH OF CALIFORNIA DREAMIN
In December 2017, we officially launched a new movement called California Dreamin. Since we are based in a region of rich cultural diversity, God has given us specific strategies to plant new churches, strengthen and grow existing churches, and increase effective discipleship to bring reformation to society. We believe God has prophetically called us to reach and inspire families, communities, and people groups of all ages and backgrounds in California and all across our nation.
4. COVID-19
Then COVID-19 hit our nation. I couldn’t travel to the nations even if I wanted to. During the lockdown of 2020, the Lord had my attention. He started to download a strategy for revival and reformation in California.
5. THE RIGHT TO WORSHIP
In July 2020, the Lord led our church (Harvest Rock Church) and our network (Harvest International Ministry) to sue Gov. Newsom and California for the lockdown of in-person worship services. California had mandated the most severe restrictions for churches.
6. 1RACE4LIFE
In August 2020, a new pro-life movement was birthed, 1RACE4LIFE. 1RACE4LIFE is a grassroots nonprofit movement of ethnically and culturally diverse members committed to seeing California become a pro-life and pro-family state.
7. AN APOSTOLIC COVENANT
After the discouraging November election results, the Lord reminded me of how powerful Love LA was in the 90s, led by Jack Hayford, Lloyd Ogilvie, Bishop Ken Ulmer, Bishop Charles Blake, and myself (the token Asian). Love LA was used to bring healing between the Korean pastors and the black pastors in 1992 after the LA riots. During a Zoom conference call with key leaders at the start of 2021, I heard the Lord say to bring the “apostles” of California together to make a covenant of unity to see revival and reformation in California. (“Gather My godly ones to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” Psalm 50:5)
7. REVIVE CALIFORNIA LAUNCHED
Following the unction of the Holy Spirit, in February 2021, Revive California was launched as 12 key apostolic leaders from different denominations gathered together, representing the government, education, business, and church mountains of culture.
